JACKETS GREEN
RECORDS
Independent label: Jackets Green Records. I've assumed that
'Jackets Green' was the band's name and that the EP was called 'Jackets Green
'67', giving the year of release as 1967. The label has the same appearance as
Trojan singles from that year, if that's any indication. The music is acoustic
Folk: we start off with a jolly whaling-boat song - no whales were injured
during the song - and move into an up-tempo banjo-led instrumental version of
'Grandfather's Clock'. On flipping the record a tin-whistle joins in and the
pace drops for a seduction song that I've heard on a Yetties album; we put to
sea again for the final track.
