Oxford University Press can claim to be the oldest company on this site, by some distance: as a publishing house it dates back to the sixteenth century.  Needless to say, the record division doesn't go back quite that far.  The single shown above, Ulf Goran's, 'Play Guitar' (OUP-115) was issued in 1974, which suggests that the OUP have been putting records out since the '60s - the early '60s, if numbering began at OUP-1, the late '60s if it began at OUP-100.  OUP-200 appeared in 1979.   It seems that OUP records were usually (always?) released in tandem with books; the Ulf Goran single was part of a guitar tuition set.  LPs and singles shared the same numerical series, and the musical fare on them tends towards the esoteric, if the few examples I've seen are anything to go by.  The Oxford University Press is still in business today, though not as a record label.
