TRIANG SCALEXTRIC
RECORDS
Independent label: Scalextric offer a 45 rpm extended play
record called "Roar" in their Canadian catalogues for many years starting around
1963 designated SR/1. It featured Grand Prix , TT races , and motorcycles. In
the 1965 Canadian supplement , they offered the A/259 accessory" Twin
Auto-Screams. Inside this red plastic housing , sat 2 seperate DC motors whose
gears were spun against a pair or reeds, much like a card held into bicycle
spokes. This produced a sound like a motor and was meant to be connected to the
controllers of each seperate car. Besides these accesories, the A245 Fuel guage
was offered. This was meant to offer more realism by simulating the effects of a
fuel load, making your car go slower when first refuelled and then gradually
faster as the fuel was used up, until finally stopping when you ran out of
fuel.
