MAT
RECORDS
The record label of
H. A. ('Mat') Mathias's 'Radio Craft' company, which appears to have specialized
in custom recordings. Radio Craft's studio was initially based in Meltham,
West Yorkshire. The company moved to larger premises in King Street,
Huddersfield - the King Street Recording Studio put out more records on the
MAT label. That of course invites the questions, were numbers MAT-2 to MAT-5
used, and if they were, what were the records and when did they come out. Mat
himself went on to invent the Matamp amplifier and to link up with the Orange
Amplifiers company, which had its own, more prolific, label, Orange Records.
Matamp is still in business today, but sadly Mat died in 1989. Thanks to
Robert Lyons for the info. Distributed By
