SUGAR
RECORDS
Sugar was owned by producer Charles Ross, and was devoted to
Reggae music. For a while it was a member of the Decca group of
labels - note the similarity of the red-and-white label's layout to that of
Deram. It then moved to Pye, though only briefly, changing design and
numbering in the process. Sugar had a rather short life, only lasting
from 1970 to 1971. During that time it issued around ten singles and
at least a couple of albums. Decca singles were numbered in the
SU-100s, Pyes in the ESS-100s. Thank to Robert Lyons
for the info.
